A moving family tribute
According to those close to him, the message was dedicated to his recently deceased niece. After the match, Guirassy explained the personal significance of his gesture in an interview with Amazon:
"It was a message to my brother. We are all supporting him. It's a difficult time for the family. But life goes on. We will all die one day."
Despite the heavy personal context, Guirassy rose to the occasion on the pitch, confirming his return to form and giving Dortmund a valuable advantage ahead of the second leg. It was a night marked as much by performance as by emotion.
