U20 Women’s World Cup: Nigeria draw with China and keep their hopes alive

After a disappointing start to the U20 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria bounced back. Having lost 2–0 to Spain in their opening match, the Super Falconets drew with China on 10 September.

The Falconets had no room for error this Thursday at the Arena Sosnowiec against China. They held their ground. A 0-0 draw against the Chinese means a point that keeps everything alive in Group F.

The outcome remains to be seen

It looked set to be a tough task, however. Their opponents, China, had thrashed New Caledonia 5-0 on the opening day and were top of the group. With this draw, Moses Aduku’s side remain in contention. They are still in the running to finish second in the group or among the best third-placed teams and reach the round of 16.

Everything will be decided on the final matchday on Sunday against New Caledonia. A do-or-die clash.
