Youri Tielemans officially joins Manchester United

Manchester United has officially announced the signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa. The Belgian midfielder has signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils in a transfer valued at £35 million.

Following the announcement of his arrival, Youri Tielemans made no secret of his emotion. The Belgian midfielder expressed his pride in joining one of the world's biggest clubs and stated his determination to write a new chapter in his career in Manchester colors.

"It is hard to describe how proud I am to join Manchester United. Signing for such a special club is incredible. It is the culmination of many years of hard work since I first fell in love with football," the Belgian international said.

The 29-year-old also outlined his ambitions.

“I have had the privilege of experiencing success during my career, which has made me even more determined to achieve more. Everyone at the club shares a very clear ambition: we want to compete for the biggest trophies in the coming years.”

Aston Villa pays tribute to its former midfielder

For its part, Aston Villa confirmed Tielemans' permanent transfer to Manchester United. Having arrived on a free transfer in 2023 after leaving Leicester City, the Belgian leaves Birmingham after three memorable seasons. A Europa League winner with the Villans, he scored a stunning volley in the final against Freiburg last May, helping secure the title for Unai Emery's team. Having captained Belgium at the World Cup, Tielemans made 134 appearances for Aston Villa, scoring 10 goals.

His performances earned him both the Players' Player of the Season and Fans' Player of the Season awards at the end of the 2024-2025 campaign. In its statement, Aston Villa paid tribute to a player who was popular and highly respected in the dressing room, while wishing him the best for the remainder of his career.
