Just days after the disappointing 1-1 draw against Uganda, Tunisia stumbled again. In the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers, Botswana held the Carthage Eagles to a 2-2 draw at the Hammadi Agrebi Stadium in Radès.

Mastouri avoids the worst

Botswana opened the scoring in the 38th minute through Thatayaone Kgamanyane. After the hosts quickly fell behind, they had to rely on Hazem Mastouri. The Espérance Sportive de Tunis striker pulled one back in the 44th minute. After the restart, Mastouri scored his second goal in the 49th minute and thought he had secured victory for Tunisia.

Group H more open than ever

But the Zebras did not give up. Lebogang Ditsile equalised in the 60th minute, stunning the Radès crowd. After two consecutive draws, Tunisia, led by Mouine Chaabani and his men, have made no progress and remain under pressure. Group H remains wide open, while the winner of the Uganda-Libya match scheduled for September 29 will move clear at the top.
