A Premier League club officially put up for sale
A change of ownership is looming at Everton. The Friedkin Group, which has owned the English club since December 2024, has officially announced that it is considering various investment options, including the sale of a majority stake. The American consortium believes the time has come to open a new chapter in the history of the Toffees.
The Friedkin Group opens the door to a sale
Led by American billionaire Dan Friedkin, the consortium took control of Everton from Farhad Moshiri in December 2024. It initially acquired around 94% of the club's shares before increasing its stake to 99.5% through a debt-to-equity conversion. When it arrived, the group faced several financial and sporting challenges. Its initial priorities were to bring stability, support the team's development and complete the new stadium project.
With these foundations now firmly established, the time has come to consider the next chapter in Everton's history.
The consortium says it will consider only proposals from investors capable of continuing the club's development and consolidating the progress achieved. It also assures that it will continue to support Everton throughout the process.
The new stadium, an asset for Everton's future
One of the main projects in recent years concerned the construction of Hill Dickinson Stadium, which opened in August 2025. The new venue marks an important milestone for Everton, who had long played at Goodison Park. The change of ownership therefore comes after a major transformation of the club's infrastructure.
The future investor will nevertheless have to continue the work already undertaken and support the sporting ambitions of an institution that has won nine Premier League titles. Everton is also one of the oldest clubs in the English top flight, where it has played without interruption for 74 seasons, according to the source.
