Zamalek SC player Mahmoud Bentayg has publicly expressed his frustration after being overlooked for the Man of the Match award following his side's 2-0 victory over Abu Qir Fertilizers in the Egyptian Premier League.

The post-match outburst

Following the Matchweek 4 fixture on Tuesday evening, the Moroccan player was visibly agitated when discussing the post-match accolades. Bentayg firmly suggested that his nationality played a decisive role in the voting process.

"I didn't win it because I am not Egyptian... it's clear" Bentayg stated in a moment of frustration caught on camera.

The tense situation required the immediate intervention of Zamalek Director of Football who stepped in to calm the upset player and de-escalate the situation on the touchline.

Soliman's decisive display

Despite Bentayg's grievances, the official Man of the Match award was handed to Zamalek goalkeeper El Mahdy Soliman. The shot-stopper earned the recognition after delivering a flawless performance between the posts to secure the 2-0 victory.

Soliman registered four crucial saves during the encounter, including two key interventions from inside the penalty area, ensuring his team maintained a vital clean sheet and secured all three points.
