Andy Delort's return to Montpellier lasted only a few months. And it is not expected to continue. Loaned by MC Alger until June 2025, the Algerian forward has failed to impress.

According to L’Équipe, the purchase option set at €2 million will not be exercised. The management of the club, facing an almost inevitable relegation, is already starting to restructure its squad. Andy Delort, who had left fond memories during his first stint, has not rekindled the spark. Nine Ligue 1 matches, no goals, no assists. The anticipated impact never materialized. A disappointing, almost silent return for someone who was once an offensive leader for MHSC.

At 33, the Algerian international is expected to return to Algeria this summer, hoping to bounce back with MC Alger. Montpellier, on the other hand, is preparing to rebuild in Ligue 2. The club has no time to waste, and even less room for unfruitful gambles.
