Angola: Aliou Cissé is already making his mark on the Palancas Negras
Appointed as Angola's head coach in April 2026, Aliou Cissé has made a perfect start. In four matches, the 2021 African champion remains unbeaten.
An ideal start
Under Aliou Cissé, the Palancas Negras first played two friendly matches in June. The adventure began with a draw (1-1) against Mauritania before a first, convincing victory over the Central African Republic (3-0).
A controlled clash against Egypt
The Senegalese coach also made a strong start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Palancas Negras pulled off an impressive result by holding Egypt to a draw at Cairo International Stadium, before following that up on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over Malawi on matchday two.
With four points, Angola are second in Group B, level on points with leaders Egypt. This flawless start has got the Cissé era off to a perfect beginning. The objective is now clear: maintain this momentum and qualify Angola for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
