AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has revealed that his team's mandate is to secure a ticket to CAF Inter-club competitions next season after missing out last term.

Usuthu have had an impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign, registering six wins with one defeat and as many draws, which has them sitting third with 19 points on the Betway Premiership table.

Notably, the loss came at the hands of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, while the stalemate was against defending champions Orlando Pirates, with the KwaZulu-Natal club trailing Downs with four points and three points behind Bucs.

With his side keeping pace with the upper echelon, Zwane says they fancy their chances of booking a spot in Africa for the 2027/28 season, noting the progress that Usuthu have made under his guidance.

“We do have goals like any other team, but as I said, the league is a marathon and you never know what's going to happen as the season progresses," said the former Kaizer Chiefs mentor.

"So, we fancy our chances, we really want to go and compete in Africa next season because as a group we are growing in stature, so that will be a very good experience, a plus for this group of players.

The CAF A License holder insists there's no complacency and resting on laurels in the AmaZulu camp, despite proving to be competitive and a force to be reckoned with in recent seasons.

“If you remember my first season with coach Kanu [Vusumuzi Vilakazi] we finished in position six, the following season which was last season we finished in position four,” Zwane added.

"So, we're always aiming high, we need to improve from last season for this current season.

AmaZulu will tackle Kruger United in the Carling Knockout Cup round of 16, before locking horns with Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership on Saturday, 31 October.
