Bayer Leverkusen preparing major contract extension for Ibrahim Maza
Now indispensable at Leverkusen, Ibrahim Maza could soon be rewarded with a contract extension accompanied by a significant pay rise.
Bayer Leverkusen want to secure Ibrahim Maza as soon as possible. According to information from Sky Sport Deutschland, the German club have already opened talks with the entourage of the Algerian international with a view to extending a contract that nevertheless runs until June 2030. Bayer also want to accompany the new deal with a significant pay rise.
This desire reflects the change in status Maza has undergone since arriving in Germany. Those figures enabled him to gradually establish himself as one of the key players in Leverkusen’s project.
His status further strengthened this season
Under the guidance of Carles Martínez, who arrived on the Bayer bench this summer, Maza has become even more important. In the Bundesliga this season, the Algerian has played 4 matches, starting all of them and completing every minute, with 1 goal and 1 assist already to his name.
The Spanish coach mainly uses him in central areas, where his creativity, movement between the lines and ability to accelerate play have now made him a central part of the system.
A highly productive international break before his injury

Against Zambia, he was one of the main architects of the Greens’ 3-1 victory, scoring a goal and providing an assist. A few days later, against Burundi (2-2), he was decisive once again, setting up Mohamed Bachir Belloumi.
His record during this international window therefore stands at 1 goal and 2 assists. However, his break ended on a sour note: during the friendly against Niger, Maza was forced to leave the pitch with an injury. The setback inevitably caught Leverkusen’s attention ahead of his return to the club.
Leverkusen want to get ahead of the competition
Maza, for his part, reportedly feels very comfortable at Bayer and would be open to extending his contract. The club nevertheless want to move quickly, with several Premier League sides now closely monitoring his situation.
After considering a major sale last summer, Leverkusen appear to have changed their strategy: Maza is now regarded as one of the players around whom to build the future. The new status the Algerian has gained in recent months could therefore soon translate into an even more lucrative contract.
