Burkina Faso: Federation ends Pascal Sawadogo's tenure as women's national team head coach

A new chapter begins. After taking the helm in September 2021, Pascal Sawadogo departs as head coach of the Burkina Faso women's national team. The Burkinabé Football Federation has decided not to renew his contract and has launched the search for a new head coach.

Pascal Sawadogo wrote some of the most memorable chapters in the history of women's football in Burkina Faso. Under his guidance, the Stallionesses achieved historic milestones: their first-ever qualification for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in 2022, followed by a second qualification in 2026.

Four years of historic achievements

In nearly four years, Sawadogo laid the foundations for a truly competitive squad. He led the team to the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, marking the country's debut appearance. Four years later, he repeated the feat, guiding Burkina Faso to the 2026 edition. The 2-1 victory over Tanzania in the latest tournament in Morocco stands out as one of the highlights of his tenure. Sawadogo departs along with his entire coaching staff.

Burkinabé federation opens applications

To succeed him, the Burkinabé Football Federation is seeking an experienced coach. The new head coach must possess a CAF "A" license, while the assistant coach is required to hold at least a "B" license. The mission is clear: inject fresh energy into the technical staff and calmly prepare the Stallionesses for their upcoming international challenges.
