Burkina Faso: Issa Balboné appointed coach of the Étalons Ladies

A new era is beginning for Burkina Faso's women's national team. The Burkinabè Football Federation announced on Tuesday, October 6, the appointment of Issa Balboné as head coach of the Étalons Étalons.

Pascal Sawadogo's successor

Issa Balboné succeeds Pascal Sawadogo at the helm of the Étalons. The latter saw his contract not renewed after the group-stage elimination from the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Balboné is no stranger to the Étalons Ladies. He was already part of the team's Africa Cup of Nations campaign, having been brought in at the last minute to serve as coach for administrative purposes, as Pascal Sawadogo did not hold a CAF A Licence.
