CAF CL: Aigles du Congo fall to Rivers United

The continental journey for Aigles du Congo comes to an end at the very first preliminary round. Despite a solid performance and stretches of well-organized defense, the Congolese side was undone by a single lapse in Uyo.

Just before halftime, poor management of a set piece allowed Nigerian Stephen Manyo to pounce and head home the only goal of the match—a crushing blow from which the Aigles never recovered.

In the end, this 1-0 defeat on the road seals the Congolese side's fate, as they are eliminated on aggregate (1-0 overall). Meanwhile, Nigeria's Rivers United advance to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
