After being crowned African champions on August 16 in the final of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Indomitable Lionesses were received on Saturday, August 22, at the Unity Palace in Etoudi.

The President of the Republic, Paul Biya, and his wife Chantal Biya, hosted a grand reception to celebrate Cameroon’s first-ever Women's Africa Cup of Nations title, according to the Cameroonian Football Federation.

The head of state praised the team's exceptional journey and their victory, which has become a source of inspiration for Cameroonian youth, urging the Lionesses to keep up their momentum with their sights set on the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.

Samuel Eto'o, President of the Cameroonian Football Federation, who attended the ceremony, was also congratulated for his tremendous work with the squad.

A major promise

Beyond the bouquets and musical gifts presented by the presidential couple, a major surprise stole the show: President Biya pledged a house for every player and every member of the technical staff. The Lionesses had already received more than 50 million CFA francs in bonuses for their achievement.

After three lost finals, Cameroon finally clinched the title with a commanding 4-0 win over Malawi in the final. A tribute truly worthy of this historic feat.
