CAN U23: The draw pots for the qualifiers!
CAF is holding the draw for the 2027 U23 AFCON qualifiers this Tuesday in Egypt, with 42 national teams directly involved.
The big day has arrived. The draw for the 2027 U23 AFCON qualifiers will take place this Tuesday, August 25, in Egypt, starting at 3 p.m. local time. The ceremony will determine the entire qualification path up to the third and final round.
The first round pots
The 28 teams entering the first round have been geographically divided into three pots. The first team drawn will host the first leg.
Pot 1 – UNAF, UNIFFAC and WAFU

- Tunisia
- Mauritania
- Sierra Leone
- Benin
- Burkina Faso
- Togo
- DR Congo
- Equatorial Guinea
- São Tomé and Príncipe
Pot 2 – CECAFA
- Djibouti
- Ethiopia
- Kenya
- Rwanda
- South Sudan
- Sudan
- Tanzania
- Uganda
Pot 3 – COSAFA
- Angola
- Botswana
- Comoros
- Eswatini
- Madagascar
- Malawi
- Mauritius
- Namibia
- Seychelles
- Zimbabwe
The teams will be drawn in pairs within each pot. This process will produce 14 home-and-away ties and as many teams progressing to the second round.
