Just days before the start of the 2026-2027 Champions League season, each club is submitting its squad list. At Real Madrid, Ferland Mendy has been left out.

Clubs participating in the Champions League this 2026-2027 season have until this Friday at midnight to submit their registered player lists to UEFA. At Real Madrid, all the new signings are included. These include Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, Yan Diomandé, and Carlos Espi.

However, Ferland Mendy does not appear on the list drawn up by José Mourinho. As a reminder, the French international suffered a ruptured right femoral tendon with bone dislocation in May. An injury that is expected to keep him sidelined for several more weeks.

While Mendy is completely unavailable, José Mourinho has opted to include other long-term injury absentees in his European plans. Eder Militao and Rodrygo have both been successfully registered alongside the rest of the club's first-team stars. This decision highlights the delicate balancing act facing the coaching staff, who are managing squad depth and fitness ahead of a demanding European campaign.
