Football: An Ivorian international struggling
David Fofana Datro’s Swiss adventure has suffered another setback. Having joined Servette FC last August from Chelsea, the 23-year-old Ivorian striker will be unavailable for around six weeks due to an injury sustained during a friendly against Annecy, a club playing in France’s Ligue 2, last weekend.
In a statement published on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Servette FC confirmed the Ivorian international’s unavailability. The news comes as the player is already struggling to establish himself in the Swiss team’s setup.
Since the start of the season, David Fofana Datro has indeed had limited playing time. After nine league matches, the former AFAD-Plateau striker has played a total of 216 minutes in five appearances, including just two starts. He has scored only one goal so far.

This injury therefore further complicates the situation of the young centre-forward, who had hoped to use his move to Servette FC to revive his progress and regain more playing time after his spell at Chelsea.
As the Swiss club aims to climb the Super League standings, Servette will have to cope without its Ivorian striker for several weeks. For Fofana Datro, this period on the sidelines represents another challenge in a season that, for now, is failing to take the hoped-for turn.
