Former Manchester City player announces retirement
Ben Mee has decided to bring his professional playing career to an end. The English defender, a product of the Manchester City academy, is hanging up his boots after a final season with Sheffield United.
The 36-year-old explained that he felt the time was right to turn the page after a long reflection about his future. His last professional appearance dates back to January, against Ipswich Town. Although he came through the ranks at Manchester City, Ben Mee will be most closely associated with Burnley FC, where he spent nearly a decade and played several Premier League campaigns.
He also wore the colours of Brentford FC before taking on his final challenge at Sheffield United. The former defender has revealed he now wants to explore the world of media before considering a transition into coaching.
