Franck Kessié’s time in Saudi Arabia appears to be coming to a close, and on a high note at that. The 29-year-old midfielder played a key role in Al Ahli’s recent triumph in the AFC Champions League, yet he has not extended his stay with the club. Unless there is a dramatic turnaround, he is set to leave Jeddah this summer as a free agent, bringing an end to a golden chapter in the Gulf.

According to information gathered by Africafoot, AEK Athens have now made their interest known officially. The Greek club sees Kessié as the centerpiece of their sporting project and is reportedly prepared to put forward a substantial offer in order to convince the Ivorian to make the move to the Super League.
