Chelsea kick off their Premier League campaign against Fulham in a derby marked by the debut of two Spanish managers.

The opening round of the Premier League wraps up this Monday with a West London derby between Fulham and Chelsea. The Blues travel to Craven Cottage for a clash set to kick off at 8pm local time in England, or 9pm in France.

Two former Real Madrid coaches go head-to-head

This match marks Xabi Alonso's big debut in the Chelsea dugout. Fulham are also turning a new page after Marco Silva’s departure to Benfica. The Cottagers have handed the reins to Álvaro Arbeloa, who succeeded Alonso at Real Madrid last season.

The two Spaniards, former teammates at Liverpool, Real Madrid, and with the national team, are each leading their first Premier League match. This is the first time a manager is making his Premier League debut against a coach he also played alongside in the English top flight.

One win apiece last season

The two teams shared the spoils in the Premier League last season. Chelsea took the first derby 2-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to João Pedro and Enzo Fernández. Fulham then got their revenge at Craven Cottage with a 2-1 victory. Raúl Jiménez opened the scoring, Liam Delap equalized for the Blues, and Harry Wilson clinched the win for the Cottagers nine minutes from time.
