Getafe prepare to make another move for Demba Seck
Getafe have reportedly not abandoned their pursuit of Demba Seck. According to El Gol Digital, the Spanish club are considering making another move in January to sign the 25-year-old Senegalese right winger, who plays for Partizan Belgrade. However, competition from Schalke 04 and a club from the United Arab Emirates could complicate the deal.
A two-legged tie that impressed Bordalás
Getafe’s interest dates back to the Conference League qualifiers, played in August against Partizan. In the first leg, won 3-1 by the Spanish club, Demba Seck scored and demonstrated his ability to make a difference on the right flank. In the return leg, on 27 August in Belgrade, the Senegalese player once again attracted attention.
Starting the entire match, he notably hit the post. Despite Getafe’s 2-1 defeat that evening, the Spaniards qualified with a 4-3 aggregate score. According to El Gol Digital, José Bordalás was reportedly convinced by the player’s qualities and would now like to have him under his command in La Liga.
Partizan in a strong position
The deal nevertheless looks complicated. After initially joining from Torino on loan, Demba Seck was transferred permanently to Partizan. The Serbian club is therefore now in a position to set its conditions for a potential sale.
According to Estadio Deportivo, which also reports Getafe’s interest, the Senegalese player has scored two goals and provided two assists in eight appearances for the Belgrade club. Getafe will also have to contend with competition from Schalke 04 and a UAE side, whose financial resources could weigh on the discussions.
Our analysis
For Getafe, Seck would represent an interesting option to bring more pace, attacking threat and depth to the right flank. His profile matches Bordalás’ desire to have additional attacking options at his disposal. However, the main obstacle remains financial.
Partizan have already shown that they want to secure satisfactory conditions for letting their player leave. Getafe will therefore have to present an offer capable of convincing the Serbian directors while withstanding the competition. The January transfer window could revive the deal, but no agreement for Demba Seck’s transfer has been announced at this stage.
