Inter consider a move for Mateo Kovačić
Could Mateo Kovačić return to Inter? The scenario is beginning to take shape as the Croatian midfielder approaches the final year of his contract with Manchester City. According to Tuttosport, the player has reportedly been offered to the Milan club again, with Inter assessing low-cost market opportunities for the summer of 2027.
Kovačić offered to Inter again
Having joined Manchester City from Chelsea in 2023, Mateo Kovačić is now under contract with the English champions until June 2027. His entourage reportedly offered his services to Inter Milan last summer, and the possibility has reportedly resurfaced in recent weeks, according to Tuttosport.
The Croatian knows the Lombard club particularly well. He wore the Nerazzurri shirt between 2013 and 2015 before joining Real Madrid. He then continued his career at Chelsea and Manchester City, with whom he won several European and domestic trophies. A return to Milan would therefore have particular significance for the player, but no negotiations have currently been announced.
Our analysis
For now, the Kovačić situation looks more like a market opportunity than a sporting priority. The Croatian’s profile, his top-level experience and his knowledge of Inter’s environment are arguments in his favour, while his potential availability without a transfer fee naturally makes the deal an attractive one.
But Inter will also have to consider the player’s age, his salary demands and, above all, the composition of their midfield as the summer of 2027 approaches. A return for Kovačić to Milan therefore remains hypothetical, but the situation could gain momentum if his future at Manchester City is not resolved in the coming months.
