Jules Ahoka: the big leap to the Premier League

Just a year ago, Jules Ahoka was virtually unknown to the wider public. Today, the Congolese midfielder is making headlines with a Premier League transfer to Sunderland.

Sunderland goes all in on Ahoka

Jules Ahoka has officially left Royal Antwerp to join Sunderland. According to multiple reports, the transfer is valued at around €10 million. The 20-year-old has signed a long-term deal with the Black Cats, tying him to the club until June 2031.

Arriving in Belgium last September from AC Normands Sport, Ahoka initially played for Antwerp’s reserve side. His performances soon earned him a spot in the first team and a taste of professional football.

Four games and already a major transfer

The Congolese player’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. Ahoka has made just four appearances at the professional level, but that was enough to convince Sunderland. His physical presence, technical ability, and composure in midfield reportedly made him an ideal target for the English club.

Antwerp had initially hoped to keep their young talent at least until the winter transfer window, but Sunderland’s offer changed everything. The English club’s management now hopes to gradually develop Ahoka and eventually see him become a key figure in their midfield.
