Julian Alvarez: Atlético mocks Real Madrid as things heat up at Barça

Real Madrid sent an offer of €150 million this Tuesday to Atlético Madrid for Julian Alvarez. But once again, the Colchoneros refused to give in, just as they did with FC Barcelona. Over in Catalonia, there’s been plenty of reaction.

According to Jijantes, this announcement changes nothing for Barça. The Catalans are still determined to sign Alvarez and remain confident they can lure the 2022 World Cup winner to their ranks. This information is backed up by El Chiringuito, which reports that it makes absolutely no difference for Barça, and that the atmosphere in the Camp Nou offices is especially calm.

Cadena SER, for its part, reports that Barça fully expected this move from Real Madrid, so it hardly surprised anyone inside the Spanish champions’ camp. Some are even poking fun, suggesting it’s proof that Pérez is more focused on what’s happening in Barcelona than on strengthening his own squad. Sport also mentions this as a clear attempt by Real to destabilize their rivals.
