Liverpool enters the race for Ismaïla Sarr!

With just five days left before the transfer window closes, Ismaïla Sarr is looking to leave Crystal Palace. Liverpool has joined the fray and could shake up an already fierce competition.

The Ismaïla Sarr saga is heating up as the transfer deadline approaches. According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool has opened negotiations for the 28-year-old Senegalese winger. The Reds’ entry into the race comes as a surprise, with Galatasaray previously considered the frontrunner to land the player.

The Turkish club has already tabled an initial offer, which Crystal Palace rejected, but they are reportedly close to reaching a personal agreement with Sarr. Al Hilal is also monitoring his situation. Now, however, Liverpool could shake up the landscape, especially if Cody Gakpo leaves Anfield in the final days of the window.

Crystal Palace demand €60 million

Sarr has been pushing for a move for several weeks. The Eagles, unwilling to easily part with one of their key players, are reportedly demanding around €60 million. No club has met this asking price yet, but Liverpool’s interest could change the dynamics of the negotiations.

The Senegalese international did not feature in Crystal Palace’s Premier League opener, a 2-0 loss at Everton. His absence has raised plenty of questions during this transfer period. Foot Mercato reported a standoff between the player and club management, while Pierre Sage insisted his forward was suffering from a groin injury and was not fit to play.

An exceptional 2025-2026 season

Sarr’s desire for a fresh challenge is also fueled by his changing status. Last season, he netted 28 goals in all competitions for Crystal Palace, equaling the club’s single-season record in the Premier League era. He was also named Conference League Player of the Season, finishing with nine goals.

Sarr shone for Senegal at the 2026 World Cup as well, scoring four times and finishing as the tournament’s top African scorer. The former Marseille and Rennes star has established himself as one of the most sought-after attackers in this final week of the transfer window. Now, Liverpool must turn talks into a concrete offer if they hope to beat Galatasaray and Al Hilal to his signature.
