Lyle Foster closing in on MLS move

Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster is on the verge of signing for Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit Houston Dynamo from Burnley FC.

As reported by The Athletic, the proposed move is a season-long loan deal that's set to run until June 2027, with a buy option of $7 million (R112 million).

The 25-year-old centre-forward has been deemed surplus to requirements by newly appointed Burnley manager Nicky Hayen, who succeeded Scott Parker.

Notably, Foster is yet to make the matchday squad in the ongoing 2026/27 campaign, where the Clarets have already played five matches.

He signed for the English club in January 2023 from Belgian outfit KVC Westerlo, helping Burnley seal promotion to the topflight in his debut season.

The Bafana international went on to chip in with five goals and three assists in 24 appearances across all competitions the subsequent term in the elite league.

Foster, however, endured a below-par 2025/26 campaign, netting three goals with as many assists, as the Clarets got relegated to the English Championship.

Now he looks set for a new chapter in the MLS, with sources indicating Dynamo Houston beat Turkish Super League side Genclerbirligi to his services.
