Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster has opened up on his move to Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit Houston Dynamo from English Championship side Burnley.

The 26-year-old centre-forward joined the Texas-based club on a season-long loan that's set to run until June 2027, with a buy option of $7m (R112 million).

He was deemed surplus to requirements by new Burnley manager Nicky Hayen, and left the Clarets without making the matchday squad in the 2026/27 season.

Foster says he joined the MLS team in search of ample game time and a change of scenery, having enjoyed his stay in the USA post the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“After the World Cup, being in America for some time, I kind of enjoyed the vibe here, I like the people. More than anything, I just wanted a change of scenery, something where I can enjoy football again,” he told the club's media.

"The last two days of the window, my agent said Houston might be interested and I said let's go. I seen where the guys were placed on the table, immediately I think the guys are doing this, why is there no reason that we can go all the way?

"But obviously we take it a training session at a time, the way that we've been playing, the qualities I believe I have, I believe that I can just be a piece of a puzzle that fits into the team and hopefully try our best to bring it [title] to the H.

The Orlando Pirates youth development product went on to dissect his style of play and attacking attributes Houston Dynamo can expect from him as a no.9.

“I love creating attacking options, I love running in behind, I think I'm a strong runner. I'm good one-on-one, physical,” added Foster, who brings a wealth of experience in attack.

"Being in a high-pressure environment, having to have decisions that are so quick and things that can tip games in either way at any moment - I think is something that I've taken on board, having played against some of the best teams in the world and the best players in the world.

"But I do think I've learned so much trying to turn a game in your favour with as few chances as possible.

Having made his debut in the 2-0 defeat to Kansas City last month, Foster will be looking to add to his appearance tally when his team face Minnesota United on Sunday.
