Manchester City have reached advanced stages of negotiations with Olympique Marseille to sign Argentine star Gerónimo Rulli and are now very close to signing the Argentine star.

Manchester City have decided to pay €3.5 million for the Argentine goalkeeper of French club Olympique Marseille, according to several reliable international sources, including Sky Sports. The goalkeeping department within Enzo Maresca’s system will be very special after the arrival of the Argentine goalkeeper in preparation for the next season.

Rulli is preparing to return to Manchester City!

Gerónimo Rulli is preparing to return to Manchester City and the Etihad Stadium after having been a player for the Blue Sky between 2016 and 2017, but he did not appear in any match with the first team and chose to look for his opportunity elsewhere.

Since leaving Manchester City, the 34-year-old goalkeeper has had many experiences that have given him great experience in European football, the last of which was at Marseille (his current team), Ajax Amsterdam, and Real Sociedad as well.

The Argentine goalkeeper left Marseille in 2024, and since his arrival at Marseille he has become the first-choice goalkeeper and one of the best goalkeepers in Ligue 1.

James Trafford's compensation

The wheels are turning quickly at the Etihad. With James Trafford edging closer to a switch to Leeds United, Manchester City have wasted no time in ramping up their interest in Gerónimo Rulli. The Argentine shot-stopper is being lined up not as a replacement, but as a seasoned understudy to Gianluigi Donnarumma—someone who can offer reliable cover when the Italian needs a breather during what promises to be another grueling season on all fronts.

Talks have progressed to the point where only minor loose ends remain. Barring any last-minute hiccups, an official confirmation is expected to land shortly, once the paperwork is signed and sealed. For City, it's about adding depth without compromising quality—and Rulli fits that brief perfectly.
