Milan revive their pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee
Joshua Zirkzee could return to Serie A two years after leaving it. With limited playing time at Manchester United, the Dutch striker is reportedly back on Milan’s radar, with the club considering making a move during the next winter transfer window. According to Calciomercato, the Lombardy club is considering a loan offer with an option to buy.
Milan have never completely forgotten Zirkzee
Before his transfer to Manchester United in the summer of 2024, Joshua Zirkzee had already been targeted by Milan. The Italian club were then willing to trigger his €40 million release clause, but negotiations reportedly stalled, notably over agent Kia Joorabchian’s demands regarding his commission. Manchester United ultimately accepted the terms and signed the striker from Bologna.
Since joining the Red Devils, Zirkzee has nevertheless struggled to establish himself on a long-term basis. His difficulties in the Premier League have regularly fuelled rumours of a departure from Manchester. According to Calciomercato.it, AC Milan could therefore take advantage of his situation to try to bring him back to Italy. The idea currently under consideration is a loan with an option to buy starting in January.
Amorim wants to strengthen his attack
Manchester United already have Gonçalo Ramos, who was signed from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer, but Rúben Amorim would like to have an additional attacking option. The Portuguese coach also knows Zirkzee well, having managed him at Manchester United. Under his management, the Dutchman had more playing time than during the previous period under Michael Carrick.
For Milan, the January transfer window could therefore represent another opportunity to turn a long-standing interest in the 25-year-old striker into reality.
