Morocco Women's CAN 2026: How much will the tournament winner receive?

On Wednesday, July 22 in Johannesburg, Patrice Motsepe announced a significant increase in the total prize money for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

The total increase amounts to 67%

The aim of this boost is to make the tournament more attractive and to better reward the participating teams. The total prize pool has jumped from $3.475 million to $5.8 million, marking a 67% increase compared to the previous edition. In West African CFA francs, that's roughly 3.47 billion.

Winner gets double the prize

The lion's share of these rewards will go to the new champions. The team that lifts the trophy in Morocco will pocket $2 million, up from $1 million previously—doubling the top prize. The runner-up won't be far behind, receiving $750,000—a 50% increase. Even third place will see a 43% rise in their reward.

Prize money for all

Another major development: every participating team is now guaranteed a minimum payout. Each of the 16 qualified teams will receive $150,000 as a participation bonus, up from $125,000 previously. With more money and more teams (previously just 12), the 2026 Morocco Women's CAN is set to be the biggest in history.
