Official: Mamady Diambou signs with Stade Brestois 29

Malian international Mamady Diambou officially arrives in France this Thursday.

Mamady Diambou has officially left Red Bull Salzburg to sign with Brest until 2028. He becomes Brest’s fourth summer signing after Noé Poillion, Joseph Nonge, and Gautier Lloris, who all joined as free agents.

"OFFICIAL: Mamady Diambou leaves FC Red Bull Salzburg after five and a half years. The 23-year-old Malian midfielder signs a contract with Stade Brestois and will now compete in France’s Ligue 1. All the best and much success, Mamady," the Austrian club announced in a statement.

For their part, Stade Brestois 29 quickly confirmed the news. "Stade Brestois 29 and Red Bull Salzburg have reached an agreement for the transfer of Mamady Diambou. The 23-year-old Malian international midfielder has signed for 2 seasons, with an optional extra year," wrote the Finistère club in their official release.

As a reminder, Mamady Diambou joined Red Bull Salzburg in January 2021. The Malian began his European career with FC Liefering, Salzburg’s partner club, where he played 32 matches in the Austrian second division and scored three goals. During the 2023-24 season, he gradually broke into the first team and made his Champions League debut, notably facing Stade Brestois 29 on matchday two of the group stage. He also spent time on loan in Switzerland with FC Luzern in 2023 before returning to Salzburg.

With Brest, Mamady Diambou will wear the number 6 shirt. He has already taken part in his first training session with his new Brest teammates this Thursday.
