Official: Marco Ilaimaharitra signs with Standard de Liège

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Standard de Liège officially announced the arrival of Marco Ilaimaharitra. The Malagasy international midfielder has signed a two-year contract, with an additional year as an option. He joins the Liège club after finishing the season with KV Kortrijk.

A product of FC Sochaux's academy, Ilaimaharitra built a solid reputation in Belgium, particularly during his long stint at Sporting Charleroi, where he made 231 appearances and wore the captain's armband. After joining Kortrijk in the last winter transfer window, he featured in 13 Jupiler Pro League matches and brought his experience to the squad, despite the club's relegation.

In his first statements, the player did not hide his motivation. "When Standard contacted me, I immediately felt it was a great opportunity," he said. Ilaimaharitra expressed his excitement about the club's sporting ambitions and the prestige surrounding the team. He will wear the number 18 jersey in his new colors.
