Official: Ronald Araujo loaned to Liverpool
It’s official as of a few minutes ago. Ronald Araujo will spend the 2026-2027 season at Liverpool.
The English club confirmed the arrival of the centre-back from FC Barcelona this Monday evening. The Uruguayan international joins on loan with a purchase option set at 55 million euros. As part of the deal, the Reds will cover the entirety of the Blaugrana defender’s salary.
At FC Barcelona, Ronald Araujo had lost his starting spot and was no longer part of Hansi Flick’s plans for the upcoming season. Speaking to LFC TV, the Uruguayan defender expressed his eagerness to wear the Reds’ shirt.
"I am very, very happy. I’m delighted to be here, at this great club with such a rich history. I can’t wait to meet my teammates, I’m eager to start playing, and I’m very motivated and truly looking forward to getting started. I think this was the perfect move for me at this stage of my career. I believe it was a decision I absolutely had to make. As soon as I learned that Liverpool were interested in me, everything moved very, very quickly. As I said, I’m super happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started. I’m grateful for the interest shown in me and this was the right choice at the right time.", he said.
