Portugal: Antonio Simões slams Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal legend Antonio Simões has strongly criticised Cristiano Ronaldo.

Antonio Simões won the Champions League with Benfica and the league title on ten occasions. The Portuguese legend does not understand Cristiano Ronaldo. According to Antonio Simões, CR7 does not have the attitude of the champion he claims to be.

"Jorge Jesus has every right to make Cristiano warm up for one minute or thirty. He is the coach. I learned and grew up respecting my more experienced teammates and the coach. Why should Cristiano receive preferential treatment? I played with a king named Eusébio. I spent time alongside a king named Pelé, Diego Maradona and others… I never saw anything like this surrounding a king. (...) We do not have to agree with Cristiano, and I think he is wrong. That said, if he has acknowledged his mistake, let us give him the opportunity to have, at the very least, a farewell worthy of his stature. What is needed is common sense and tolerance," the former striker said in comments reported by A Bola.
