Portugal: “I could leave as early as today”, Cristiano Ronaldo

Despite rumors of a possible international retirement after the 2026 World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo remains part of Portugal’s squad for the upcoming Nations League matches.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday evening, the Al Nassr captain clarified that he was not demanding a starting place under head coach Jorge Jesus. "I am at the Mister’s disposal: to play, to come on, to be substituted, I am available for anything. The pride I feel when I join the national team is still the same, even after all these years. One thing is certain: I will not play all 90 minutes of the four matches," said CR7.

The former Real Madrid player is expected to start against Wales tonight. Cristiano Ronaldo also explained that he was ready to leave if he were considered a burden to his national team.

"If the Mister or the president no longer counted on me, I could leave as early as today. The day they think I am no longer useful, that I am creating a bad atmosphere, I will pack my bags and leave; there is no problem. I will continue to support the Federation and the team in another way. I am here to help the national team. The Mister, the president and the Portuguese count on me, and that is why I continue," he said.
