Portugal: Ronaldo statement and the Portuguese players' commendable attitude

While Lionel Messi received a colossal tribute in Argentina for his final match with the national team, Cristiano Ronaldo published a statement following his dispute with the Portuguese manager.

Cristiano Ronaldo's comments, in which he wanted Jorge Jesus to speak out and praise him publicly, were not particularly well received in Portugal. Indeed, several media outlets noticed something quite telling.

🚨🇵🇹 Jorge Jesus today on Cristiano Ronaldo statement: “I read the statement and now, like I do every day, I'm going to the Federation headquarters to work, to think about the Portuguese national team”. “I have nothing more to say”. https://t.co/PJ7UI42xEN

None of the Portuguese national team players liked Cristiano Ronaldo's post yesterday evening. This confirms that the other Portuguese players did not particularly appreciate all the commotion during the international break, which was otherwise successful for Portugal, with four wins and qualification for the Nations League quarter-finals.
