Premier League reveals eight nominees for August Player of the Month

The Premier League has announced eight August nominees after two matchweeks filled with goals, assists, clean sheets and decisive individual displays.
The Premier League officially unveiled the eight-man shortlist for the August 2026 EA SPORTS Player of the Month award on Thursday, 3 September. Supporters can vote until 12:00 BST on Monday, 7 September. Their votes will be combined with those of a panel of football experts and Premier League captains, with the winner to be announced on Friday, 11 September.
The leading nominees’ attacking numbers
- Rayan Cherki Manchester City): 2 appearances, 2 wins, 2 goals and 2 assists. He created both late goals against Bournemouth before scoring twice at Crystal Palace.
- Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United): 2 appearances, 1 win, 1 defeat, 3 goals and 1 assist. The Portuguese midfielder scored a 28-minute hat-trick against Ipswich and supplied another goal.
- Cole Palmer (Chelsea): 2 appearances, 2 wins, 2 goals and 1 assist. Both goals proved to be match-winners, against Fulham and Brighton.
- João Pedro (Chelsea): 2 appearances, 2 wins, 2 goals and 2 assists. His four direct goal contributions equal Cherki’s shortlist-leading total.
- Yoane Wissa (Newcastle United): 2 appearances, 1 win, 1 draw, 1 goal and 1 assist. He was Player of the Match against Liverpool before scoring versus Tottenham.

Calafiori, Sangaré and Tzolakis earn recognition for all-round impact
- Riccardo Calafiori (Arsenal): 2 appearances, 2 wins, 0 goals, 2 assists and 2 clean sheets. Arsenal allowed only one shot on target across the two fixtures.
- Mamadou Sangaré (Brentford): 2 appearances, 1 win, 1 draw, 0 goals and 1 assist. The Mali midfielder recorded 27 defensive contributions (12 recoveries, 6 tackles and 5 interceptions) plus 12 duels won and 4 chances created.
- Konstantinos Tzolakis (Hull City): 2 appearances, 2 wins and 2 clean sheets. The Greek goalkeeper stopped all 8 shots on target he faced, including 5 against Manchester United.
Cherki and João Pedro lead the shortlist with four direct goal contributions apiece, while Fernandes is its top scorer. Tzolakis owns the strongest defensive case. Palmer and João Pedro’s simultaneous nominations also underline Chelsea’s explosive attacking start.
