PSG: Luis Enrique reveals why he extended his contract

A few weeks ago, Luis Enrique extended his contract as Paris Saint-Germain head coach. In a recent interview, the former FC Barcelona coach explained his decision.

Joining PSG in the summer of 2023, Luis Enrique helped the Parisian club establish itself as a reference point in world football. PSG have notably won the Champions League twice. His work has been rewarded with a recent contract extension until June 2030.

"This is the first time in my coaching career that a story has lasted this long. It is not easy to remain at a club for two, three or four years. You are permanently connected, constantly concerned with preparing the team and everything that is important for it. There are moments when I try to take a step back and reflect, but it is difficult. You win a match and, ten minutes later, you are already concerned about the next opponent. When the opponent is very strong, it is more of a source of motivation. But there is always the fear of losing, of not performing well. That is what is difficult for me to manage as a coach, and that is why it is complicated to stay in the same place for a long time. But Paris is different, Paris is special. What we experienced here from the very first days was very special for me. That is why we are continuing," the Spanish coach said.
