Real Madrid: Brahim Diaz under threat from the imminent arrival of Yan Diomandé

With Ivorian international Yan Diomandé on the verge of joining Real Madrid, there are bound to be casualties—and Brahim Diaz won't be spared.

The first likely casualty looks to be Vinicius Jr.—at least in the boardroom. The Brazilian is still hoping to extend his contract and has never hidden his ambition to become a Real Madrid legend. But with talks currently at a standstill, the arrival of Yan Diomandé is being seen as a clear message from the club. Should Vinicius ultimately fail to renew, the Ivorian could become his natural successor on the left flank.

Another potential casualty is Arda Güler. The Turkish international could also find himself among the big losers following this transfer. In José Mourinho’s favored 4-2-3-1 system, Jude Bellingham would slot in behind the striker, while Diomandé would occupy the right wing—drastically reducing Güler’s chances of making the starting lineup.

Finally, Brahim Diaz is also under threat. Since returning to Real Madrid, the Moroccan international had embraced his role as the first attacking substitute, always ready to make an impact off the bench. But with the new hierarchy taking shape, that status could now shift to Arda Güler—pushing Brahim even further down the offensive pecking order.
