Real Madrid: Endrick shuts the door on Liverpool

Courted by Liverpool after his successful loan spell at Lyon, Endrick is determined to make his mark at Real despite fierce competition and an uncertain status.

In search of an attacking reinforcement, Liverpool made inquiries about Endrick. The Brazilian striker turned down this approach in order to continue his adventure with Real Madrid. It’s a bold decision, especially considering the presence of Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior, and Yan Diomandé, which significantly limits his chances of a starting role.

His spell at Lyon reignited his career

Loaned to OL for the second half of last season, Endrick rediscovered his rhythm and confidence in Ligue 1. The 20-year-old racked up eight goals and eight assists in 21 appearances across all competitions. With 16 direct goal involvements, he proved decisive on average every 1.31 matches. His hat-trick against Metz especially stood out, though his avoidable red card against Nantes dampened the memory.

José Mourinho now wants to keep Endrick in his squad, mainly as a rotation option through the middle and potentially on the right flank. This prospect doesn’t fully satisfy the Brazilian, who is eager for a regular starting spot. For now, however, no offer has promised him a sporting project attractive enough to lure him away from Madrid.

A first absence against Espanyol

Endrick will miss Real’s next match, scheduled for Saturday, August 22 at 9:30 p.m. away to Espanyol, marking the start of their La Liga campaign. The striker is currently sidelined with a minor muscle issue and has not been selected by Mourinho.

Staying put is therefore a gamble: his performances at Lyon prove he can make an impact when given regular minutes, but too minor a role could slow his development. Unless a better opportunity arises before the transfer window closes, Endrick appears ready to try his luck in Madrid.
