The Champions League is the immediate goal
Wearing the famous white shirt, Yan Diomande is setting the bar high from day one. During his unveiling, he didn’t hide his excitement:
I am proud, because this is the biggest club in the world. Today, everyone dreams of playing for Real Madrid. It's incredibly exciting to fight for the Champions League title with this club—and why not start this year?
The Ivorian international, who has 13 caps and 3 goals to his name, is determined to make his mark from his very first season. It’s a mindset that fits perfectly with the demands of the Bernabéu.
Possible debut tonight at the Bernabéu
After eye-catching spells with Leganés and then Leipzig, Diomande made his La Liga debut on August 22, when Madrid edged Espanyol Barcelona 2-1 in a match brought forward from the second round. Tonight, he could get his first taste of the legendary Santiago Bernabéu atmosphere as Real Madrid host Real Sociedad in their season opener.
