Shock at Bayern Munich after Ismaël Saibari's injury diagnosis

Bayern Munich’s hopes of seeing their new signing, Ismaël Saibari, back in action soon have been dashed after the latest medical examinations confirmed his injury is more serious than initially thought.

The Moroccan attacking midfielder, top scorer for the Atlas Lions during the 2026 World Cup, was injured in the round of 16 clash against Canada. Forced off the pitch during the match, he subsequently missed the quarter-final against France.

An absence that complicates Bayern's plans

According to information from the German daily Kicker, Saibari is suffering from a torn muscle fiber in his thigh—an injury that will require several weeks of treatment and rehabilitation.

The same source reports that the Moroccan international is not expected to rejoin full team training until after Bayern Munich returns from their Asian tour, which ends on August 8, pending the medical staff’s approval.

Herbert Hainer impressed by Saibari

Despite this setback, Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has not concealed his admiration for the former PSV Eindhoven star.

Quoted by the German daily Abendzeitung, he said: “He is a player of immense talent, and he proved it throughout the World Cup.”

The Bavarian chief added: “Saibari put in outstanding performances before his injury. He found the back of the net in every match he played.”
