Steve Barker guides Simba SC to cup final

Steve Barker has guided Simba SC to the CRDB Bank Federation Cup final after thrashing Coastal Union 4-0 in the semi-final over the weekend.

Prolific talisman Libasse Gueye broke the deadlock 19 minutes after the first whistle, before Nickson Kibabage doubled the lead in the 59th minute.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine de Reuck helped Simba put the game to bed as he converted from the penalty spot in the 77th minute.

In-form playmaker Clatous Chama completed the rout three minutes later, which saw the Reds of Msimbazi qualify for the FA Cup final for the first time in five years.

Simba will now lock horns with Azam FC for the trophy as Florent Ibenge's men eliminated defending champions Young Africans with a 3-2 win after extra time.

Notably, Barker has already won his first piece of silverware in Tanzania as his team pipped fierce rivals Yanga to the Muungano Cup glory back in April.

This comes on the back of a trophyless season under Fadlu Davids in the previous campaign, where they also missed out on the league title on the last day.

Now, having been tasked with toppling Yanga and winning domestic cup titles, Barker will be relishing the opportunity to clinch another trophy as Simba boss.
