Steve Barker's Simba SC were pipped to the 2025/26 NBC Tanzania Premier League title by fierce rivals and defending champions Young Africans.

The Reds of Msimbazi secured a 1-0 win over bottom-placed Kinondoni MC as Inno Loemba converted from the spot in the season finale on Tuesday afternoon.

Simba remained second on the log standings having accumulated 73 points in 30 league outings, where they scored 54 goals and conceded just 11.

Meanwhile, Yanga thrashed JKT Tanzania 3-0 thanks to goals from Prince Dube, Maxi Nzengeli, and Aurelio Depu, defending their crown in the process.

Timu Ya Mwananchi, as a result, finished the season two points clear at the summit of the table, scoring a staggering 71 goals and conceding nine.

Young Africans have now clinched five consecutive league titles, pipping Simba to the championship on the last day like the 2024/25 campaign.

However, Barker and his troops have a chance to make amends as they are set to lock horns with Azam FC in the CRDB Bank Federation Cup final this month.

Notably, the South African tactician has already won silverware as Simba boss, beating Yanga to the Muungano Cup glory back in April.
