The perfect response: Ronaldo answers Portugal critics with Al Nassr goal and Ange's support

Responding on the pitch after international turmoil

Postecoglou’s vote of confidence comes in the wake of a turbulent international break for the veteran forward whose relationship with Portugal national team coach Jorge Jesus came under intense public scrutiny.

The tension boiled over during Portugal's fixtures when Ronaldo was left on the bench against Norway despite warming up, following discussions regarding limited playing minutes.

The disagreement escalated when promised playing time materialized into a full match on the bench, ultimately leading to the forward's departure from the national camp ahead of the match against Denmark. Both parties traded conflicting accounts regarding agreements over media communication and squad management.

However, upon returning to Riyadh, Ronaldo swiftly redirected his focus to club football. Starting in the Saudi Roshn League fixture against Al Diriyah, the 41 year old delivered an energetic performance and found the back of the net helping Al Nassr secure a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Postecoglou dismisses the outside noise

Speaking ahead of their continental engagement, Postecoglou made it clear that whatever transpired on the international stage has had zero negative impact on Ronaldo's daily application at club level.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is in a good mental and physical state... You saw him in the last match, he played the entire game and scored, so I am sure he is in a good place" Postecoglou told reporters during his pre match press conference.

The Australian tactician's endorsement underlines the immense value Ronaldo continues to bring to Al Nassr, both as a tactical focal point and a relentless competitor capable of shutting out external distractions.
