Tottenham: Dejan Kulusevski finally returns to the squad
Interview
Good news for Tottenham: Dejan Kulusevski is finally closing in on a return to the pitch. Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that the Swedish winger will be on the bench for Monday’s match against Coventry City.
The medical staff’s green light
Having been sidelined since spring 2025, Kulusevski underwent knee surgery in May of the same year. In recent weeks, however, the Sweden international has returned to full team training. The medical staff have now given him the green light to rejoin the squad, according to De Zerbi.
Yes, he will be on the bench. The medical staff have given their approval. It is probably the best news since the match against Everton. He has had to endure far too much.
The Italian coach also revealed that he had told the player the news the previous day. Kulusevski’s reaction was reportedly immediate: a broad smile, a sign of his relief after this long period of uncertainty.
A much-anticipated boost for Spurs
Kulusevski’s return could gradually provide Tottenham with more attacking options. His experience, creativity and ability to make a difference in the final third will be valuable for a team hoping to regain its full strength.
His presence on the bench does not necessarily mean that he will play any minutes on Monday against Coventry. After such a long absence, the club is likely to favour a gradual return in order to limit the risk of a relapse.
