Former Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa found the back of the net as MAS Fes beat FC Nouadhibou in a CAF Champions League warm-up match.

The 29-year-old centre-forward broke the deadlock in the first half, before the Mauritanian champions conceded an own goal for a 2-0 defeat.

MAS Fes are set to begin their continental campaign with two-legged tie against Rahimo of Burkina Faso in the first preliminary round next week.

Nouadhibou, on the other hand, square off against Ugandan outfit Vipers SC in a two-legged encounter, as they look to progress to the second round.

For Mabasa, he fills the boots left by Soufiane Benjdida, who has since joined Egyptian giants Al Ahly after scoring 20 goals for MAS Fes last season.

The ex-Bucs target man has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the reigning Moroccan champions, who are looking to stake their claim in Africa.

Notably, MAS Fes have also lured winger Devin Titus from Betway Premiership side Stellenbosch FC, after winning their first league title in 40 years.

Whether the reigning Botola Pro League champions will reach the group stages and mount a strong run in Africa's elite club competition remains to be seen.
