UEFA: Aleksander Čeferin to stand for re-election (Official)
This Thursday, Aleksander Čeferin, the president of UEFA, officially announced that he was seeking a new four-year term at the helm of European football’s governing body.
The decision was announced during a meeting in Berlin with the 55 member associations. “I would like to thank the national associations for their trust. We have faced extraordinary challenges in recent years. There is still important work to do, so I have accepted their request. My ambition remains the same: to keep European football united, strengthen our game and leave UEFA ready for the next generation,” he said.
“I am tired; it has now been seven years since I have been away from my family (who stayed living in Slovenia). And I will be away from them for another three years, until 2027,” the official had nevertheless said at the UEFA Congress held in Paris on February 8, 2024.
