UFOA A U20: Guinea beat the hosts
Guinea got off to a strong start in the UFOA A U20 qualifying tournament for the 2027 Ghana U20 Africa Cup of Nations. The Syli beat Mali 1-0 in the opening match played this Thursday at the Mamadou Konaté Stadium in Bamako.
An intense battle
After an intense battle and a cagey first half, the match was decided after the break. The two teams cancelled each other out for a long time before Guinea made the difference. Mohamed Abedi Bangoura scored the only goal of the match in the 60th minute. His goal got the Syli off to a winning start in the competition.
Mali already up against it
Thanks to this victory, Guinea move to the top of Group A pending the result of the match between Gambia and Liberia. Mali fell at the first hurdle in front of their home crowd. The U20 Eagles must respond quickly on the second matchday. Mamoutou Kané’s side will face Gambia, while Guinea will take on Liberia on October 18.
