UFOA B U17: Nigeria begin campaign against Niger

Four days after the kick-off, Nigeria finally take the field in the UFOA B qualifying tournament for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations. The Golden Eaglets face Niger this Wednesday.

A much-anticipated start

Bronze medallists in 2025, the Nigerians have a great opportunity to qualify for the semi-finals in their very first match. In Group B, which contains only three teams alongside Côte d'Ivoire, the formula is simple.

Match Day for Golden Eaglets 🦅 Coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere declares the team is confident ahead of Niger clash on Wednesday in the WAFU B championship, despite the training difficulty the Nigerian team faced on Tuesday when taken to a 5-aside pitch instead of full pitch. https://t.co/xWD8QchVOy

Niger held Côte d'Ivoire to a 1-1 draw in its opening match. In this three-team group, there is little suspense. A win may be enough to reach the semi-finals. That is the case for both teams today. Nigeria's final match will be against Côte d'Ivoire on October 17. A clash that could decide top spot in the group.

Where to watch the match?

Kick-off is scheduled for 16:00 GMT at the 4 August Stadium in Ouagadougou. The match between the Mena U17 and the Golden Eaglets will be broadcast live on the CAF West Zone B YouTube channel.
